The Classic Yuppie

If you’re wanting to do business with me, I pretty much have only one requirement – be honest and open.

Do not come to me attempting to play games. I have my life and my savings invested in my business, so do not waste my time or my patience. Do not play around behind my back and then act completely different to my face.

Was it really that difficult to understand where I was coming from? Was it really necessary to treat me like I have no clue what I am doing or what I consult about?

Newsflash – I have done what I do since I was 12 years old. I know more about my industry business than you – if you knew more than me you wouldn’t be coming to me for advice. Oh, that’s right – you just used me for free services and then dispose of me like a dirty rag.

Please do not treat me like a child. Do not use phrases like, “let’s not speak out of school” and berate me in front of my peers. Yes, that’s right – peers. I’m your equal and I deserve some respect. I doubt you treat the other vendors you do business with like this, so what makes me any different.

You pay your other vendors, so what makes me any different. I was kind enough to offer you services at no cost in the beginning but you assumed (incorrectly) that there was no end to my generosity. Well, dear lady, you have trampled on my sense of obligation too many times – you have outstayed your welcome.

Karma has a funny way of coming back on people. Just remember that.
